SATURDAY 11TH OCTOBER 2014

TODAY SAW A CONCERTED DAY OF ACTION ACROSS THE UK AND EUROPE, REGARDING THE TRANSATLANTIC TRADE INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP. WHY ARE SO MANY CONCERNED OVER THE IMPLICATIONS OF TTIP?

TRANSATLANTIC IS STRAIGHTFORWARD AS IS TRADE; INVESTMENT IS ALSO UNDERSTOOD; WHEREAS PARTNERSHIP REMAINS SOMEWHAT AMBIGUOUS IN THIS CONTEXT.

THE GRAVY TRAIN'S DERAILMENT

Having the prospect of a grievance going all the way to a tribunual is not a pleasant experience. Neither was the period of uncertainty following my decision to write a letter of complaint to the H.R department of my Employer. Human Resources, what a misnomer, what was wrong with the old Personel or Industrial Relations Departments?

Having taken the decision to complain after seeking advice from my branch secretary, I made my complaint, which had arisen since the prime employer had decided not to renew its contract with its outsourced contractors.  These were not happy times, being forced against the wishes of employees, to change from fortnightly pay to monthly. This would mean a long wait for the next pay day, which would be further extended due to thier pay date.

THE TRANSATLANTIC TRADE AND INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP

THE TRANSATLANTIC TRADE AND INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP

Recently I signed the petition around the privatisation of the Pharmacy services at the Morecambe Bay Hospital Trust. These and other proposals will lead to our NHS being torn apart.

But worse is to follow in the form of the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership. It certainly is not a partnership as those that matter are not consulted. There has been no reference to the electorate, allowing wholesale incursion by the private sector into essential public services and procurement. If passed it would be impossible to bring poorly performing services back to public ownership.

NO HEALTH SELL OFF AT MORECAMBE BAY

OVER 8OO0 MORECAMBE BAY RESIDENTS SIGN PETITION OPPOSING NHS PRIVATISATION

Walking past a noted super market this week I was greeted by one of the campaigners handing out the latest leaflets on this important issue. After a chat over letters published, not mine this time. I went away with several leaflets which found thier way to the GMB office, the Labour Party office and to my own branch secretary in my ward office in the Tally Ho. This is a case where every little helps.

OUTSOURCING OF PHARMACY SERVICES AT THE RLI, WESTMORELAND GENERAL & THE FGH

Once again its the NHS and the services it provides to the Morecambe Bay Hospital Trusts that are giving cause for concern to the general public. Looking back over past articles I wonder why health matters are to the fore. It is all too obvious why; its because health matters. Whether its occupational health which was the cause of my initial involvement,  related services provided by the Oncology Department or Maternity who services are used by all, at thier own birth or that of thier own children.

That the outsourcing of the Pharmacy Department is being considered raises several issues. Given the serious and tragic events of past years, this plan should not be on a "To Do List" Surely the priority of the Management should be to restore public confidence within the trust. This inconceived idea will not be of benefit to those who need the NHS at a time of need.

Should Jackie Daniels outline to the public what her priorities are for the FGH and the Morecambe Bay Trust to rebuild both public trust and the reputation of all NHS services within the Bay area. As Stakeholders in our NHS the pubic deserve better.

Looking back through previous articles on the Maternity & Oncology debates it was all to obvious to all that basic compassion, consideration, commonsense, communication were lacking.

I hope that the Management of the Trust take noticenot only of what the public is saying, but also trust members like myself, abandons this scheme with prioritising rebuilding trust with restoring its reputation.
